Vitiligo (vit-ill-EYE-go) is a pigmentation disorder in which melanocytes (the cells that make pigment) in the skin are destroyed. As a result, white patches appear on the skin in different parts of the body. Similar patches may also appear on both the mucous membranes (tissues that line the inside of the mouth and nose), and the retina (inner layer of the eyeball). The hair that grows on areas affected by vitiligo may also turn white. |

It is through Donations and Supporting Memberships that we are able to provide the support so needed by our members. We often face difficult decisions regarding which programs we can continue due to financial constraints. Your donations help promote education, and enable us to raise awareness in the public and medical community, educating health care professionals on current treatments and the need for compassionate understanding for their vitiligo patients.
